Welcome to Longden School PTA

All parents of children at Longden School become members of the Parent –
Teacher Association, don’t worry, this doesn’t mean that you will be dragged
into forced labour! The school’s PTA mainly exists to help raise funds for trips
and equipment that are not normally provided by the Local Education
Authority. Here are a few of the benefits we have helped to provide:

• Coaches for whole school outings
• Play equipment
• Musical instruments
• Additional features for the school grounds

Last year we saw the completion of a bridge over the tunnel in the school
grounds which was one of the requests on the children’s wish list, we also gave
£1,000 for the purchase of musical instruments for the pupils. This year we have
been raising money for a storage unit for playground equipment, benches for the
school grounds and are now looking at replacing the class digital cameras.

How do we raise the funds?

We have a series of events through the year, currently one “main” event per
term. We also run school discos which are very well attended. Last year we
started a new initiative called Bag 2 School which involves the collection of
clothing and other goods for re-sale abroad.

How can I help?

We would love to see new members with fresh ideas joining the PTA
committee, if this isn’t for you then, any help with running events or provision
of goods and produce will be very much appreciated. We are very fortunate
with the level of support that we already have from many parents, hopefully
they will agree that we all generally have a great amount of fun in the process.
