Outdoor Adventurous Activities Provision

The aims and objectives of our Outdoor Adventurous Activities (OAA) club, that takes place after school on Mondays, are to encourage adventure and creativity in a sustainable and considerate way. Bonding through shared experience and learning to take access with respect, independence and responsibility.  

Activities are planned around the following themes:

  • Pioneering / Making / Creativity 
    • Bushcraft sessions, making fires, cooking, making pegs, fences
    • Making rope walks, cargo nets, climbing frames, den building, tipi’s
  • Environmental / Ecological / Sustainability
    • Making beehives, bird boxes, setting out and developing wildlife options ‘on site’. Raising money for wildlife cameras. making composting sites. Growing produce, identifying native species, 
    • Recycling, repair and maintenance V ‘single use’
  • Adventure / Fitness / Wellbeing
    • Archery, orienteering, tree climbing, bike sessions, obstacle course, ‘outdoor walks’, tents and campcraft, slack lining
  • Empathy / Awareness / Kindness
    • Team games, problem solving, individual activity supported by others, trust exercises, group challenges
    • Personal Risk awareness and considerations
    • First aid sessions

We are very grateful to Parent volunteer, Matt Craig, an experienced outdoor instructor, who will be involved in delivering these sessions with our sports co-ordinator Julie Dean.
