Permanent, 5.5 hours per week (8:00am-1:30pm Monday)

Start date to be confirmed once all satisfactory checks are received

The Governors of Longden CE Primary School and Nursery are looking to appoint a Cook in Charge to run the school kitchen on Mondays. This is a popular, busy four‑class rural school and nursery with a breakfast club and after‑school care, providing a broad and varied curriculum. As a result, the school kitchen plays an important role in supporting pupils’ wellbeing through the provision of healthy meals. Working independently, the Cook in Charge is responsible for food preparation and service, maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, and ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day running of the kitchen.

The role involves regular contact with staff and pupils and therefore requires good interpersonal skills, reliability and flexibility. The ability to work supportively within the ethos and aims of a Church of England school is essential. Experience in a school or similar catering environment is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate.

Completed application forms should be returned to admin@longden.shropshire.sch.uk by midnight on Friday 1 May 2026, with interviews taking place week commencing Monday 4th May 2026.

Longden CE Primary School and Nursery is a popular and busy rural school with four classes and a nursery. We offer breakfast and after-school care and provide a broad and varied curriculum within a caring, inclusive environment. Experience of working with children with SEN is desirable, as is a relevant Level 3 qualification, though training and support will be provided for the right candidate.
