Longden CE Primary School and Nursery

Additional services provided by the school - after school care/clubs, music tuition

The school provides additional services as follows:

After School Care (ASC)

This provision is for registered pupils at the school or nursery and is available from 3pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Details of how to book this and the charges applied are in the ASC charging policy below. ASC takes place on the school site in the William Higgins Community Building (Nursery). At ASC children are given a small snack and drink, engaging craft activities are planned (usually on a topical theme, Christmas, Mothers Day, etc) and the outdoor space is used extensively during the drier and lighter evenings.

After School clubs

There is a regular programme of after-school clubs. At the time of writing this includes KS2 football training, KS2 tag rugby training, Jammy Dodgers KS1 sports skills, Live-wires Opportunity (sports skills for children with SEND), Performing Arts with Loopy Loo, Friday Drama Club (Shakespeare summer production). Clubs generally finish at 4.15pm. More details are included in our regular newsletters including how to book and the charges applied.

Music Tuition

Individual or small group music tuition is provided by tutors from the Shropshire Music Service. Tuition is currently provided in keyboards, guitars, drums, violin, brass and recorder although requests for tuition in other instruments can usually be provided by the service. Lessons usually take place during the school day.  SMS also offer affordable instrument hire for most instruments, along with opportunities to perform in musical groups.  You can enrol your children using this link, or visit Shropshire Music Service to find out more.
